The water temp. is between 68 to 69 F, I am adapting very well so far. I went spearfishing for 4 hours on Sunday with my friends, Tony Miranda, a professional spearfisherman who placed third in the National Spearfishing Championships and Manny Huerta, under-23 National Triathlon Champion who's new coach said he looks like a fat manatee but to my eyes he looks like he just came off of a 100 day fast where he was only allowed to drink water. If he stands sideways behind a post you for sure would not be able to distinguish Manny from the post!
I swam and dove down 50 feet without a wetsuit and I was ok. Monday, I swam six miles in the ocean in 2:30 and I did not have any problems at all. Today, I swam one hour in the morning and 4000 in the afternoon. I felt very fatigued afterwards.
I can sense that this particular journey may be a lonely road, however, I plan to use it to release a lot of negative emotions and stay in only the present moment. The Buddha found enlightenment sitting and meditating, I imagine it possible that I could come to that point by swimming endlessly. Just think, I could be the first Cuban (that I know of) that doesn't speak at 1000 decibel volume all the time and never utters the word P!@??! Wow!
I also met with the nutritionist today, Lisa Dorfman. She was very professional and helpful. She suggested I eat more protein if I wanted to pack on some more extra pounds for insulation. In my triathlon life I was always trying to do just the opposite which was to stay lean and mean. Now, I guess for a while I get to be sweet and cuddly.
